The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Bigfork, MT, empowers passionate individuals to lead and advocate for a food system that is just, sustainable, and community-oriented. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program offers a comprehensive, tuition-free education in organic food systems, allowing Fellows to immerse themselves in hands-on experiences. Participants engage in growing and distributing diverse crops, maintaining school and community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational initiatives. Additionally, Fellows support local farmers' markets and help create accessible distribution channels for healthy foods. Over a six-month residential program at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year collaborating with regional non-profit organizations, Fellows gain the skills needed to make a meaningful impact on food accessibility and environmental health. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
