About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Chinook, MT, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that embraces social, environmental, and economic justice. This unique fellowship provides a comprehensive educational experience without charging any tuition, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Fellows engage in hands-on training and have the opportunity to grow and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational settings. Through these activities, they support local farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer programs while developing distribution channels that enhance access to healthy foods. Additionally, selected Fellows undertake a six-month experiential learning journey at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their acquired skills in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
