The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Columbus, MT, empowers passionate individuals to become advocates and educators for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Sponsored by Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program eliminates tuition costs to enhance accessibility, allowing Fellows to engage deeply in organic food system education. Participants will have the opportunity to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health care education, maintain community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into local schools. Additionally, the Fellowship supports activities such as farmers markets, direct-to-consumer sales, and community food coalitions while encouraging mentorship among Fellows. The program includes a six-month immersive experience at AMI's Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where selected Fellows apply their skills in collaboration with local non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March for a transformative experience spanning from May to October each year.
