Located in Darby, MT, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This transformative program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is designed to promote accessibility through a tuition-free structure. Fellows engage in six months of hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, gaining essential skills in organic farming, food literacy, and community engagement. Throughout the fellowship, participants collaborate with local non-profits to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community gardens, and support farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives. By integrating food and ecological literacy into educational settings and promoting healthy food access, the fellowship fosters the next generation of food system advocates. Applications are open until March each year, with the experience running from May to October.
