About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Frenchtown, MT, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders committed to fostering a sustainable and just food system. Through immersive, hands-on education at the Allegheny Farm, selected Fellows engage deeply with organic agriculture practices, community empowerment, and food justice initiatives. This program, which incurs no tuition fees to ensure broad accessibility, enables participants to grow and distribute a diverse array of crops while collaborating with local partners to promote health and well-being. Fellows implement educational programs, maintain community and school gardens, and enhance food literacy across various environments, including farmers markets and direct-to-consumer channels. Over the course of six transformative months, participants gain invaluable experience and insight before entering a Community Action Year, where they apply their knowledge alongside regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March for experiences running from May through October.
