About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Based in Great Falls, MT, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program empowers Fellows through comprehensive, hands-on education in organic farming and community engagement, all at no cost to participants to ensure accessibility. Fellows engage in a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm, where they learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, run educational sessions on health innovations, and maintain gardens that enhance local food culture. Throughout their journey, they also mentor new Fellows and foster collaboration with regional non-profits to amplify the impact of their training. With a focus on developing equitable access to healthy food and supporting local food initiatives, the Fellowship plays a crucial role in enhancing community resilience. Applications are open until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
