About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lewistown, MT, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals who are passionate about creating a fair and sustainable food system. Our program sponsors Fellows to engage in hands-on learning and advocacy at the Allegheny Farm, focusing on organic food system education that fosters social, environmental, and economic justice. This immersive six-month experience is designed to remove barriers to participation, as we do not charge tuition, ensuring accessibility for all. As part of their training, Fellows will engage in vital community initiatives, including growing and distributing a diverse array of crops, implementing educational programs on health and nutrition, maintaining school and community gardens, and developing innovative distribution channels that enhance access to healthy foods. After their time at the farm, Fellows will undertake a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations to promote food literacy and support local food initiatives. Interested individuals can apply by March each year, with the Fellowship running from May to October.
