Located in Leland, NC, the Diabetes Education Program at Brunswick County Health Services offers essential education and support for individuals with Type I and Type II diabetes. Our program is recognized by the ADA and features a team of Registered Dieticians and a Registered Nurse who lead informative classes covering crucial topics such as diabetes medication, blood glucose monitoring, nutrition, and the management of both long-term and short-term complications of diabetes, as well as the importance of exercise. Each session includes a nutritious lunch to promote healthy eating habits. Participants must complete an assessment prior to attending classes, which are scheduled by appointment and available at a fee based on a sliding scale determined by income. We also welcome referrals from healthcare providers, facilitating the path to better diabetes management and healthier living.
