The Culinary Apprenticeship Program (CAP) in Zebulon, NC, offers essential training for individuals facing unemployment or underemployment, equipping them with valuable skills for a successful career in the food industry. Through hands-on education and a paid work experience, our participants learn food safety and sanitation, knife skills, culinary techniques, and nutrition education, all while receiving direct instruction from local chefs. With a focus on practical skills, participants gain experience in catering by working alongside the Food Shuttle’s Horizon Catering, mastering event preparation and front-of-house operations. All materials are provided, and students benefit from a weekly stipend, creating a supportive environment to foster long-term employment opportunities in the culinary field.
