The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Fernley, NV, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a fair and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, the Fellowship empowers participants through robust training in organic food system education, fostering social, environmental, and economic justice in agriculture. This transformative program offers aspiring Fellows the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiences at AMI’s Allegheny Farm, where they learn to grow diversified crops, lead educational initiatives in health care, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food literacy. Throughout their journey, selected Fellows contribute to vital community programs such as farmers markets and direct-to-consumer sales while collaborating with local non-profits to enhance access to healthy food. With no tuition fees to ensure accessibility, this Fellowship provides a six-month immersive experience followed by a Community Action Year, allowing participants to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Applications are accepted until March for the annual program that typically runs from May to October.
