The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Mercury, NV, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, cultivates a new generation of leaders advocating for a just, sustainable food system. This transformative program is dedicated to empowering Fellows through comprehensive education in organic food practices, enabling them to grow diversified crops, manage community gardens, and facilitate health-oriented educational initiatives. By promoting hands-on experiences without tuition fees, we ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all participants. Selected Fellows engage in a six-month immersive residency at our Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their knowledge in collaboration with local non-profit organizations. This fellowship not only mentors future advocates but also strengthens community food systems by supporting farmers markets, enhancing food literacy, and increasing access to healthy foods throughout the region.
