About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Zephyr Cove, NV, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This transformative program, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, empowers Fellows to engage in hands-on learning about organic food systems without any tuition fees, enhancing accessibility for all. Over six months at the picturesque Allegheny Farm Campus, participants gain practical experience in areas such as growing and distributing diverse crops, conducting educational health sessions, and maintaining local gardens. They also learn to integrate food and ecological literacy in educational settings, support farmers' markets, and develop sustainable distribution channels to increase access to healthy food. After their residential training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills and make meaningful impacts. Applications are accepted until March of the application year, with experiences typically starting from May through October.
