First Stop Food Pantries, located in Hempstead, NY, is dedicated to providing essential food assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Operating as a vital component of Long Island Cares, our emergency food pantries serve the community by offering up to five days’ worth of nutritious food. We also connect our visitors with critical resources such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Child Health Plus, WIC, and assistance programs for utilities and employment. Our aim is to create a safe, welcoming environment where those in need can access both food and the support necessary to thrive. To ensure the safety of our staff and volunteers, we welcome six families at a time, helping to manage attendance within our pantry.
