About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship on Block Island, RI, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders in sustainable food systems. We empower dedicated individuals through extensive training and experiential learning that fosters social, environmental, and economic equity in food production. Our fellows engage in hands-on opportunities such as growing diverse crops, supporting local farmers markets, and enhancing community access to healthy food. With a commitment to making education accessible, we do not charge tuition, ensuring that all aspiring advocates can participate. Over a six-month immersive program at our charming farm campus, fellows gain vital skills in food and ecological literacy, which they implement during their subsequent Community Action Year alongside local nonprofit partners. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience held from May to October, providing a unique chance to impact food systems within the community.
