About Emergency Shelter Program

At Lucy's Hearth Emergency Shelter Program in Middletown, RI, we provide a safe, nurturing environment for families with children in need of temporary shelter. With the capacity to support six families, our facility features a shared kitchen, dining area, playground, and learning center. We offer a range of essential services including crisis intervention, case management, life skills training, and financial literacy education, as well as support for GED preparation, job readiness, and mental health treatment. Families can also benefit from parenting skills groups, nutrition classes, and after-school homework assistance. Our commitment extends beyond shelter, with former residents eligible for continued case management and advocacy for up to six months to help them transition successfully. To enter the program, families must complete a screening with United Way 2-1-1 and respond promptly to our availability. At Lucy’s Hearth, we are dedicated to empowering families to reclaim their stability and prevent future homelessness, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to thrive.
