About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in North Kingstown, RI, is dedicated to cultivating advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, our Fellows immerse themselves in organic food system education free of charge, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Our program empowers selected Fellows to engage in meaningful work such as growing and distributing diversified crops on a market-style farm, facilitating innovative health care education, maintaining community gardens, and integrating food literacy into schools. Additionally, they play a vital role in supporting farmers' markets, enhancing access to healthy foods, and mentoring future leaders in the field. Over six months, Fellows experience a transformative learning journey followed by a Community Action Year, where they can apply their skills with regional non-profit organizations. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply by March for an enriching experience that runs from May to October.
