Located in Portsmouth, RI, the Emergency Shelter Program at Lucy's Hearth provides a nurturing and secure environment for families with children who need temporary housing. With the capacity to host six families, our shelter offers essential shared amenities such as a kitchen, dining room, and learning center, fostering community and support. Our comprehensive emergency shelter services include crisis intervention, case management, life-skills development, and parenting skills groups, along with vital resources like financial literacy education and GED preparation. We also emphasize well-being through nutrition classes, fitness activities, and after-school homework help. Additionally, we offer continued support for former residents for up to six months, providing case management and advocacy to ensure long-term stability and prevent future homelessness. Families seeking shelter must complete a telephone screening through United Way 2-1-1 and respond promptly to openings at our facility.
