The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Westerly, RI, empowers dedicated individuals to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program is dedicated to providing comprehensive education in organic food systems without any tuition, ensuring accessibility for all passionate learners. Throughout the fellowship, participants engage in hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm Campus, focusing on vital activities such as cultivating diversified crops, implementing innovative health care educational sessions, and fostering community gardens. Fellows also play crucial roles in enhancing food literacy in schools, supporting local farmers markets, and facilitating direct access to healthy foods. Following their immersive learning experience, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year where they can apply their knowledge in collaboration with regional non-profits.
