About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Abbeville, SC, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This program offers a unique opportunity for participants to engage in hands-on organic food system education, where they will not only learn but also teach and advocate for healthier communities. Fellows gain practical experience through diversified crop cultivation, educational sessions on innovative health care, and the management of school and community gardens. They will play a vital role in enhancing food literacy within educational environments, supporting farmers markets, and developing distribution channels that improve access to nutritious food. Throughout their six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, selected Fellows work alongside regional non-profit organizations to make a tangible impact. The program promotes accessibility by charging no tuition and encourages applications by March each year for experiences from May to October.
