The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Barnwell, SC, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of leaders who advocate for a food system that is equitable, sustainable, and environmentally sound. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a unique, tuition-free opportunity for selected Fellows to engage in comprehensive education focused on organic food systems. Throughout a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants gain hands-on training in diversified crop production, community gardening, and implementation of health-focused educational programs. Following their residency, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local nonprofit organizations to foster access to healthy foods, support farmers markets, and promote food literacy within schools.
