The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Cayce, SC, is dedicated to cultivating future leaders in sustainable agriculture and food justice. We sponsor and empower fellows to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Our no-cost program offers comprehensive training in organic food systems, enabling fellows to engage with community partners in diverse initiatives such as growing and distributing crops on a market-style farm, developing community and school gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational environments. Our fellows work to enhance access to healthy foods through farmers markets and direct consumer programs, while also mentoring new cohorts. The fellowship includes a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm, followed by a Community Action Year, where participants apply their skills alongside regional non-profit organizations. Applications are open until March, with the fellowship spanning from May to October each year.
