Located in Clemson, SC, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers aspiring leaders to advocate for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a unique opportunity for participants to engage in hands-on learning at Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, without any tuition fees to ensure accessibility. Throughout this six-month program, fellows gain comprehensive organic food system education, participate in community initiatives like growing diversified crops, implementing health-focused educational sessions, and maintaining school gardens. They also work to integrate food and ecological literacy into educational settings, support farmers markets, and enhance direct access to healthy food through innovative distribution channels. Following their intensive training, fellows enter a Community Action Year where they apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are welcomed until March each year, and the experiential fellowship typically runs from May to October, making a meaningful impact in communities across the region.
