Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI) Columbia, SC

About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Columbia, SC, is dedicated to fostering advocates for a fair and sustainable food system. This program offers a unique opportunity for selected Fellows to engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, without the burden of tuition, ensuring accessibility for all. Over six months, fellows immerse themselves in organic food system education, learning how to cultivate and distribute diverse crops, lead community gardens, and integrate food literacy into educational settings. They also participate in initiatives that strengthen farmer's markets and enhance direct-to-consumer programs, all while developing vital networks to boost community access to healthy food. Following their training, fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to put their skills into practice and mentor new cohorts. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
