The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Conway, SC, empowers aspiring advocates and educators to promote an equitable food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program offers a comprehensive organic food system education, allowing selected Fellows to immerse themselves in hands-on experiences at Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. By providing tuition-free learning opportunities, we ensure the Fellowship is accessible to all. Through practical training, Fellows learn to cultivate and distribute diverse crops, implement health-focused educational programs, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. Participants also engage with local farmers markets, develop direct-to-consumer distribution channels, and contribute to community food coalitions. After an enriching six-month residency, they embark on a Community Action Year to apply their skills alongside regional non-profits, making a meaningful impact on food access and community resilience. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications by March each year, with the Fellowship experience scheduled from May to October.
