The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Gaffney, SC, is dedicated to cultivating a just and sustainable food system through education, advocacy, and hands-on experience. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, our Fellowship empowers participants to become leaders in organic agriculture by providing an accessible, tuition-free program. Over six months at the Allegheny Farm, Fellows immerse themselves in experiential learning, where they can engage in growing and distributing diverse crops, facilitating health education sessions, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy within local schools. Following this immersive training, Fellows transition into a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to enhance food access and support initiatives like farmers markets and community food coalitions. Applications are accepted until March, with the Fellowship experience running from May through October, opening opportunities for meaningful impact in food assistance and community wellness.
