The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) on Johns Island, SC, is dedicated to empowering families with the knowledge and skills necessary to make healthier food choices and improve their nutrition. Partnering with the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture and Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service, EFNEP offers a comprehensive, 10-session interactive nutrition education program focused on diet quality, food resource management, food safety, and food security. Our tailored lessons are delivered either in group settings or one-on-one, ensuring a personalized approach to each participant's needs. We help adults plan quick, nutritious meals, prepare delicious recipes, maintain food safety, and save money on groceries while promoting increased physical activity. Our programs are accessible to a diverse audience, including children, youth, and families facing limited financial resources and participating in Food Assistance programs. By completing EFNEP, participants also receive a Certificate of Achievement, marking their commitment to healthier lifestyles.
