About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship on Johns Island, SC, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a just food system that values social, environmental, and economic integrity. Through hands-on training and education, our Fellows engage in organic food system practices, learning to cultivate and distribute diverse crops in market-style settings, teach food literacy in schools, and maintain community gardens. This tuition-free program enhances accessibility and empowers participants to work with local partners to promote healthy food access and support farmers markets and community food initiatives. With a structured six-month immersive experience followed by a Community Action Year of service with regional non-profits, the Fellowship prepares passionate individuals to lead and innovate within their communities. Applications are open until March, with the program running from May to October each year.
