The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kershaw, SC, fosters a new generation of leaders committed to creating a just and sustainable food system. This transformative program, hosted by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, invites passionate individuals to engage in hands-on learning and advocacy for social, environmental, and economic equity in food systems. Fellows participate in a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they gain invaluable organic food system education and practical skills, including crop cultivation, community garden maintenance, and the integration of food literacy in educational settings. Beyond their training, participants complete a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to implement innovative health initiatives, enhance access to nutritious foods, and support farmers markets. We believe in accessibility; therefore, no tuition is required, enabling individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply by March each year for a life-changing journey running from May to October.
