About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kingstree, SC, empowers individuals to transform food systems into socially, environmentally, and economically just entities. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a unique opportunity for Fellows to engage deeply in organic food system education without the burden of tuition, promoting accessibility for all. Over a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, participants gain hands-on training in diversified crop production, food literacy, and community health initiatives. Through partnerships with local non-profits, Fellows will also develop and support community gardens, farmers markets, and direct-to-consumer programs, ensuring increased access to healthy foods. This impactful journey culminates in a Community Action Year, where Fellows apply their knowledge in real-world settings, mentoring the next generation of leaders in food advocacy. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
