Located in Leesville, SC, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship at Allegheny Mountain Institute is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that is just and sustainable for all. Our Fellowship offers an immersive six-month program at the Allegheny Farm, where selected participants engage in experiential learning while receiving organic food system education. We prioritize accessibility by not charging tuition, ensuring that all aspiring advocates can access our resources. Throughout their journey, Fellows gain hands-on experience working on a market-style farm, developing community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational contexts. Additionally, they participate in supporting local farmers markets and increasing access to healthy foods through innovative distribution channels. After their intensive training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge with regional non-profits to effect meaningful change. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October, creating a ripple effect of positive impact in communities across the region.
