Located in Loris, SC, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to training and empowering passionate individuals to advocate for a food system that upholds social, environmental, and economic justice. This fellowship provides immersive experiences in organic food system education without tuition costs, ensuring accessibility for all. Selected Fellows engage in a six-month residential program at the Allegheny Farm, where they will learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community gardens, and enhance food and ecological literacy in schools. Following their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to increase access to healthy foods, support farmers markets, and develop community food coalitions, ultimately mentoring future cohorts in sustainable food practices. Applications are accepted until March each year for the program running from May to October.
