About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in North Charleston, SC, is dedicated to training and empowering a new generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through hands-on experiences and comprehensive education at the Allegheny Farm, our Fellows learn the intricacies of organic food systems and take an active role in promoting social, environmental, and economic equity in food access. Our program champions accessibility by providing tuition-free education and practical skills necessary for fostering community resilience. Fellows engage in meaningful initiatives such as growing and distributing crops, implementing health education workshops, maintaining community gardens, and supporting local farmers' markets. Following their six-month immersive training, participants embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to enhance food access and share their knowledge. We invite aspiring changemakers to apply early, as the fellowship runs from May to October, ensuring that together, we cultivate a healthier, more equitable food landscape for all.
