About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Okatie, SC is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This unique program sponsors and trains passionate individuals through experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows immerse themselves in organic food system education over six months. Our commitment to accessibility means we do not charge tuition, allowing for broader participation. Throughout their fellowship, participants will grow and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm, facilitate innovative health care education, maintain community and school gardens, and foster food literacy in educational settings. Additionally, Fellows will contribute to enhancing community access to healthy foods by supporting farmers markets and coalition activities, while also mentoring future cohorts. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship running from May through October, creating a pathway for meaningful community impact alongside regional non-profits.
