Based in Pelzer, SC, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, part of the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that is just, sustainable, and inclusive. Our comprehensive program offers organic food system education without tuition barriers, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Participants engage in hands-on learning at our Allegheny Farm campus, where they grow and distribute diverse crops, develop community gardens, and lead educational initiatives that enhance food and ecological literacy. Throughout their six-month immersive experience, Fellows work closely with regional non-profit organizations and community partners to support farmers markets, establish direct-to-consumer food programs, and strengthen community coalitions focused on increasing healthy food access. The Fellowship culminates in a Community Action Year, allowing graduates to apply their skills meaningfully. We invite those passionate about food equity to apply by March each year for the program running from May to October.
