About Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program
The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) in Travelers Rest, SC, is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of families through practical, hands-on nutrition education. Offered by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service, EFNEP focuses on four key areas: improving diet quality and physical activity, effective food resource management, ensuring food safety, and promoting food security. Our program features a 10-session interactive curriculum designed to meet the unique needs of each participant, whether through group settings or one-on-one interactions. Participants receive a Certificate of Achievement upon completion, gaining essential skills to plan quick and healthy meals, prepare nutritious recipes, save money on food, and increase physical activity. We proudly serve a diverse group of children, youth, adults, and families with limited financial resources, particularly those eligible for Food Assistance programs like WIC and SNAP, fostering healthier lifestyles and stronger communities.
