The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Walhalla, SC, is dedicated to empowering individuals to become passionate advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Offering a comprehensive, immersive experience, this Fellowship welcomes selected participants to engage in a six-month residential program focused on organic food system education at AMI’s Allegheny Farm in Virginia. Through hands-on learning, Fellows acquire essential skills in growing diversified crops, promoting food literacy in schools, supporting local farmers' markets, and developing distribution channels to improve access to nutritious food. The Fellowship also features a Community Action Year where participants actively collaborate with regional non-profit organizations to implement impactful food assistance initiatives. With a commitment to accessibility, AMI does not charge tuition, ensuring that passionate individuals from all walks of life can contribute to building a more equitable food system. Applications are accepted annually until March, with the Fellowship experience running from May to October.
