About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Walterboro, SC, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates and educators committed to transforming our food systems into practices that are socially, environmentally, and economically just. This fellowship offers a unique, no-cost training program at the Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows engage in six months of immersive education and hands-on experience. Participants learn about organic farming, contribute to community projects like establishing school gardens, and develop innovative health care educational sessions. They also gain skills in food and ecological literacy, support local farmers markets, and create accessible pathways for healthy food distribution within their communities. Following their training, Fellows transition into a Community Action Year, where they apply their knowledge in partnership with regional non-profit organizations. By fostering collaboration and mentorship, we aim to empower individuals to address food insecurity and advocate for sustainable food systems.
