About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Fort Atkinson, WI, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that embraces social, environmental, and economic justice. Our fellowship offers a tuition-free program that promotes access to organic food system education and hands-on experience at AMI’s Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Fellows engage in meaningful work such as cultivating diverse crops on market-style farms, implementing innovative health education initiatives, managing community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy within schools. They also contribute to farmers markets and direct-to-consumer programs, develop distribution channels for healthy food access, and collaborate with community food coalitions. Throughout their six-month experiential study, followed by a Community Action Year, Fellows partner with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and mentor future leaders in sustainable food practices. Interested applicants should submit their applications by March for a transformative experience typically running from May to October.
