Located on 25 acres of rolling prairie in Frederic, Wisconsin, Northwest Passage's Prairieview campus is a residential treatment facility specifically designed for adolescent females and gender-diverse youth ages 12 to 17. The picturesque lakes and woods setting provides a serene backdrop for healing and growth. Residents benefit from a comprehensive campus featuring a full-service cafeteria, on-site treatment staff, classrooms, and comfortable lounge areas. The wellness center includes a gymnasium, fitness center, and specialized classrooms, while the expansive grounds offer therapeutic spaces such as gardens, a greenhouse, hammock village, nature trails, an orchard, playground, and fire pit. Prairieview's therapeutic approach centers on building resiliency through their guiding principle, The PassageWay. This framework helps young people develop emotional regulation skills, healthy coping strategies, positive relationships, and meaningful community connections. Treatment plans incorporate evidence-based interventions including dialectical behavior therapy, SMART skills, and Attachment, Regulation, and Competency-informed practices. The program emphasizes experiential learning through activities like hiking, canoeing, volunteering, nature photography, and equine therapy to support holistic healing. The facility maintains a commitment to diversity and inclusion, welcoming youth from various backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. With 24 beds arranged across three units in a comfortable dorm-like setting, Prairieview maintains a staff-to-client ratio of at least 1:4. The multidisciplinary team works collaboratively with residents and their families throughout the typical 6 to 10-month stay, fostering resilience, determination, and a strong work ethic as youth discover new perspectives on themselves and their potential for recovery.
