About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Barboursville, WV, is dedicated to empowering individuals to become champions of a fair and sustainable food system. Through hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm, Fellows receive organic food system education without the burden of tuition, promoting accessibility for all. Our program focuses on fostering social, environmental, and economic justice in food production, equipping Fellows to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education in collaboration with partners, and engage in community gardening efforts. With a commitment to enhancing food and ecological literacy, our fellows support farmers' markets and work to develop better distribution channels for healthy food access. After an immersive six-month experience on the farm, participants enter a Community Action Year to apply their skills with regional non-profits, driving meaningful change in local food systems. We encourage applications by March for the fellowship that typically runs from May to October each year.
