The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Beaver, WV, under the guidance of the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to training and empowering the next generation of advocates and educators focused on building a just and sustainable food system. Through a comprehensive six-month program at Allegheny Farm, selected Fellows engage in hands-on learning about organic practices, ecological literacy, and community engagement, all at no cost to ensure accessibility. This transformative experience allows participants to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement educational health initiatives, support farmers markets, and work with local partners to improve access to healthy foods. Following their Fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge and skills in collaboration with regional non-profits to strengthen community food systems and advocate for healthier, more resilient communities. Applications are typically due by March each year, with the Fellowship running from May to October.
