The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Buckhannon, WV empowers individuals to advocate for a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. This unique program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides comprehensive organic food system education at the Allegheny Farm, enabling selected Fellows to engage in hands-on learning experiences without tuition barriers. Participants will work collaboratively to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement health-focused educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. Through support for farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, the Fellowship aims to increase access to healthy foods while fostering community connections. After six months of immersive training, Fellows will undertake a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profits to make a meaningful impact. Applications are accepted until March each year for the fellowship experience running from May to October.
