About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Charles Town, WV, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program empowers selected Fellows through comprehensive organic food system education without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Over a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants engage in hands-on learning while growing and distributing crops, implementing health-focused educational sessions, and fostering community gardens. As they hone their skills, Fellows also play a vital role in supporting farmers markets and expanding access to healthy foods within their communities. Following this initial training, they embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to put their knowledge into practice. Applicants are encouraged to apply by March for the May to October program, making a meaningful impact on local food systems and ecological literacy.
