WISEWOMAN Program

West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Charleston, WV

About WISEWOMAN Program

The WISEWOMAN Program in Charleston, WV, is dedicated to empowering low-income and uninsured women aged 40 to 64 by providing essential resources for health improvement. Our mission is to offer knowledge, skills, and opportunities that help prevent, delay, and manage cardiovascular and other chronic diseases. Through comprehensive health education, we measure height, weight, and blood pressure, and conduct lab tests for cholesterol and glucose levels. If necessary, we provide follow-up visits to discuss any elevated results and assist women in setting achievable health goals. Our program emphasizes making healthier lifestyle choices, from improving nutrition to increasing physical activity and quitting smoking. We also connect participants with valuable community resources to support their journey towards better health and well-being.
