The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Clarksburg, WV, is dedicated to nurturing advocates and educators who champion a food system centered on social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this immersive program offers a unique opportunity to engage in organic food system education without the barrier of tuition, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Participants will gain hands-on experience growing and distributing diverse crops on a market-style farm, implementing innovative health care educational sessions, maintaining community and school gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into local curricula. In addition to fostering local farmers' markets and enhancing access to healthy foods, the Fellowship emphasizes mentorship, empowering the next generation of leaders in the food security movement. Selected Fellows will embark on a transformative six-month residential experience at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they will apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
