About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, hosted by the Allegheny Mountain Institute in Danville, WV, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates for a fair and sustainable food system. By providing organic food system education without tuition fees, we ensure that accessibility is at the heart of our mission. Our Fellows engage in hands-on training and experiential learning at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they grow and distribute diverse crops, run educational sessions focused on innovative health care, maintain school and community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in schools. Throughout their journey, selected Fellows will also support local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, build distribution channels for healthier food access, and collaborate with regional non-profits during their Community Action Year. This transformative program allows participants to mentor future Fellows, enhancing their impact on their communities and fostering a resilient food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just.
