About WISEWOMAN Program
The WISEWOMAN Program, hosted by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources in Danville, WV, is dedicated to empowering low-income women aged 40 to 64 who are uninsured or underinsured. Our mission is to equip these women with essential knowledge and skills to enhance their diets and physical activity levels, thus preventing, delaying, and managing cardiovascular and chronic diseases. We offer comprehensive health education, regular monitoring of key health metrics such as height, weight, and blood pressure, as well as laboratory tests for cholesterol and glucose levels. Participants enjoy personalized support through follow-up visits, goal-setting strategies for healthier living, and guidance on making informed lifestyle choices, including smoking cessation and improved nutrition. Additionally, we assist with referrals to community resources that foster sustainable changes in health and well-being.
