Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI)
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Elkins, WV, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals who are passionate about advocating for a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship provides immersive, hands-on education at the Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows engage in a six-month residential program focused on organic food system practices. Our community-driven initiatives include growing and distributing a diverse range of crops, facilitating educational programs in health care, maintaining gardens in schools and communities, and fostering food and ecological literacy. By becoming involved with farmers markets and direct-to-consumer channels, our Fellows help to enhance access to healthy food and spearhead community food coalition efforts. Ultimately, this Fellowship aims to nurture the next generation of leaders in food systems, ensuring that they can effectively mentor future cohorts and make a meaningful impact in their communities.
