About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fairmont, WV, offers a transformative opportunity for individuals passionate about creating a more just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program trains and empowers Fellows to serve as educators and advocates for social, environmental, and economic justice within food systems. With a commitment to accessibility, we charge no tuition for our comprehensive organic food system education. Over a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in diverse activities such as growing and distributing crops, implementing innovative health education, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food literacy in schools. Additionally, Fellows support farmers markets, develop distribution channels for healthy foods, and lead community food coalition efforts. Following their residency, Fellows enter a Community Action Year to apply their skills with regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March every year, with the program taking place from May to October.
