The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Harpers Ferry, WV, empowers individuals to champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program offers a unique opportunity for selected Fellows to engage in a hands-on, six-month residential experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA. Through comprehensive education focused on organic food systems, Fellows will actively participate in initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing health care education, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food and ecological literacy in schools. This immersive experience is designed to ensure accessibility, as there are no tuition fees involved. Following their fellowship, participants will embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their knowledge and help build a sustainable food network. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
